ABOUT US: Message from our Founder

"Shared Community and Team Support is the Heart of Why I Created Bayridge Counselling"

At the Bayridge Counselling Centres, my goal has been to diligently develop a clinic that envelopes the best of ‘private practice’ and the best of working on ‘a dynamic multi-disciplinary team’.

After working in this industry for 35 years, I have found that many counsellors desire the experience and independence of private practice. However, I have also found that after they have accomplished this milestone, they realize it is lonely, isolating and just a lot of work, especially all of the administration, marketing and accounting.

Kim Christink, Bayridge Executive Director

FAQs for Careers at Bayridge Counselling Centres

Learn more about working with Bayridge Counselling Centres. We are also available to answer any questions that aren’t answered below. Feel free to reach out.

Once we’ve reviewed your resume and it seems like a good fit, we will schedule an online video or phone call meet and greet with you. The goal of the meet and greet is to get to know each other and to give you an opportunity to learn more about Bayridge Counselling Centres.

Wondering what to expect in the meet and greet? These are some questions we like to explore in these conversations:

  • How did you get into this field?
  • Are you registered with a professional college/governing body that regulates the practice of psychotherapy?
  • Are you registered with a professional college/governing body that regulates the practice of psychotherapy?
  • What kinds of therapeutic modalities have you been trained in?
  • What kind of clients are you hoping to see?
  • Have you done virtual therapy before? What do you think some of the challenges will be/are?
  • Do you have malpractice insurance?
  • In what therapeutic capacities have you worked?
  • Do you have any experience in private practice?

In addition, we will seek to make you aware of who we are at Bayridge and what you can expect from this partnership.

  • Those who can practise the controlled act of psychotherapy.
  • Those looking for extra income.
  • Those needing a flexible schedule.
  • Those looking to provide therapy but not be bogged down by running your own business.

Work flexibility is one of the critical differences that Bayridge therapists enjoy. In many cases, we are able to accommodate your career goals based on your unique needs. There is the option to work full-time or part-time. You can also choose the days and time slots you wish to work.

Never been in private practice before? Not sure how to run your own business? No problem, we’re here to help!

Many therapists that join Bayridge are new to running a private practice and we are here to help and support you in whatever way we can. We have been helping therapists establish their businesses for many years now. We offer advice on business registration and assistance with GST and income tax issues, determining allowable expenses and issuing invoices that meet Canada Revenue requirements.

We use OWL Practice which is fully PHIPA compliant, meeting the highest standards of privacy in the industry. OWL Practice is also a one-stop shop for your private practice needs with built in scheduling, client management, billing, virtual therapy, statistics, and much more.

We recognize that most client's attending therapy have already attempted many solutions for their particular problem prior to coming into therapy, and a coping strategy or two is likely not the answer they are looking for. Our goal is to help train therapists to build meaningful relationships with their clients, and go deeper with them, in order to heal core issues that stand at the heart of a client's problems.

At Bayridge, we're not interested in providing band-aid solutions when widespread healing and transformation are within reach. In joining Bayridge, you’re joining a team of therapists who are dedicated to seeing lasting change take place, and committed to educating clients on change processes each step of the way so that they are not easily discouraged or naive about the difficult but, oh, so rewarding, therapeutic road ahead of them.

  • Access to office space or private space to use during client sessions.
  • An updated phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with access to the internet.
  • Internet with a minimum speed of 8Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload.
  • Access to email.

As part of the on-boarding process we will need you to assemble your own therapist profile with Bayridge. Your therapist profile will consist of a number of important steps and documents we require in order to successfully onboard you to our Bayridge team.

  • If hired, a therapist contract will be provided. You will sign and return the contract by email.
  • A profile sheet will be provided to you. This sheet is used by reception to match you with clients. You will complete the profile sheet and return it by email.
  • You will need to send us a professional photo. We will use this image for your therapist biography online. Wondering how to choose a good picture? We’ll send you tips in your Welcome Package email.
  • You will need to complete a web biography. A template will be provided with completed sample biographies for your reference.
  • You will need to read through our various Bayridge Policies which will be provided to you.
  • You will need to provide proof of liability insurance from your insurer and send it via email.
  • You will provide one reference who can comment on your work/therapy experience and return by email.

Once the aforementioned steps are completed, we will schedule training for how to use our online therapy platform.
