Let’s face it, telling your story to a complete stranger can feel a bit scary and leave you feeling perhaps uncertain but I can help make it a comfortable, meaningful and safe experience for you. I embody warmth and compassion based on my love of the work and I get to show up each day and share that with my clients.
I am a Child and Youth Worker and a Registered Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience dedicating my career to working with young people as they navigate life. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Brief Solution Focused and Emotion Focused Therapy and work to find the best fir for my client based on their needs. I am constantly seeking new learning opportunities to enhance my practice in order to better serve the youth that I work with as your needs are my priority.
My passion for this work began many years ago while working in a custodial facility for youth involved in the criminal justice system. The young people there taught me that I had the ability to connect on a different level and that I should pursue further education and training which would allow me to provide individual therapy and so I did. For the past 12 years I have been proud to provide mental health and substance use therapy and counselling to young people as they navigated their journey with substance use and mental health challenges.
I possess compassion and empathy and work from a strength based, holistic approach offering my clients the opportunity to engage in a caring environment without judgement and to determine their own treatment goals. I have a laid back approach and a warm nature that has been described by many as “just easy to talk to” and I ensure that I provide my clients with an experience that they look forward to returning to each session. I incorporate mindfulness practice into each session as I believe that these are skills that can enhance our lives.
