Self-Care for Healthy Living

Self-Care for Healthy Living

Published On: February 21, 2016

In today’s fast paced society it is important that we focus on our mental well-being. When life gets busy and hectic we tend to forget that we need personal time for ourselves. Too often in life we spend time caring for others but don’t take care of ourselves. Self-care is a healthy routine that will help you cope with life and manage your stress levels. Finding even 15 minutes a day to focus solely on your self can do wonders for your mental well-being and daily functioning.

There are many benefits of practicing self-care. When you feel rested and at ease, you will have more patience for others. Tasks and projects will not feel as overwhelming and you’ll be able to better manage stress at work. You may notice an improvement in your sleep patterns and be able to think more clearly. The list of benefits goes on and I’m hoping that you will try and make self-care a part of your routine.

What are the things that help you to relax? Here are some ideas for self-care activities:

Listening to music

Taking a walk and spending time outside

Deep breathing exercises

Yoga and meditation

Drawing a bath and taking time to unwind

Taking a break from technology

Spending time with your friends and family

Reading a book or writing in a journal

Finding a creative outlet such as crafts, colouring for adults, painting, knitting etc.
