Seeking out personal counselling takes courage. Good for you for taking the first step in addressing any challenges in your life.
We are all dealing with everyday problems. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, life does not turn out as we had planned. A relationship ending, an illness, a career change or job loss, or any other number of life events can throw us off balance and off track. You are not alone! I will help you re-assess and recalibrate as you move forward in your life. Finding a sense of purpose and meaning are lifelong struggles that can benefit from the help of a skilled and caring therapist.
I have high success rates working with people experiencing distress and life challenges. I tell it like it is, and focus on the reality of the issues in your life. I work with an eclectic, evidence-informed and strengths-based model. With roots in the Maritimes, I am a friendly, “down to earth”, approachable professional who is happy to be your therapist and committed to your well-being.
My priority is to provide a safe environment in which you can explore the unique issues in your life in an open and authentic manner. I will support you in making any changes that are necessary for your happiness and well-being. I have a genuine interest in helping you move forward in your life’s goals.
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (Honours), a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and I am currently completing a doctorate (PhD) in Social Work with a specialization in aging and health. I have worked at social service agencies, hospitals, and universities, as well as in private practice throughout the province.
I welcome and affirm clients who wish to make changes in their lives, and celebrate differences including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, socio-economic status, age, physical, mental and learning abilities, religious backgrounds and political beliefs.
My services are HST exempt, which means a lower cost you, and most Extended Health Insurance Plans will cover the cost of services provided by a Registered Social Worker.
