Welcome to my portfolio. I look forward in working with you soon. I specialize in Addictions, Anxiety, Depression and Grieving/Loss
Asking for help is one of the hardest things anyone can do. Sometimes we may feel afraid, lost, shameful or alone and nobody understand. I am here to listen, guide, coach and offer some suggestions that will help improve mental health and wellness.
My name is Timothy Crawford and I am a registered psychotherapist with the Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association. My client focus is working with all age groups (children, youth, adults and elders). I had the opportunity to work in the education system as a teacher, resource teacher and a school counselor for 16 years and in wellness health as an independent psychotherapist for six years. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and groups. I have a double masters from Brandon University; one masters in Special Education and a second masters in Guidance and Counselling. I also have an Extension Addiction Certificate from Mount Royal in Calgary, Alberta. I continue to take counselling workshops to keep my license current.
I use a variety of therapeutic techniques when working with a person. Some types of therapy include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), coaching, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), culturally sensitive, exposure therapy, dialectical therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and 12 step principles (A.A program). Each program is person-centered specifically tailored to the individual.
Some types of concerns a person maybe seeing me about include but not limited to ADHD, alcohol use, anger management, anxiety, Asperger’s syndrome, autism, behavioural issues, career guidance, child or adolescent counselling, codependency relationships, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, coping skills, depression, grief/ loss, learning disabilities, life coaching, life transitions, parenting, relationships, school issues, self esteem, self harming, spirituality, stress management substance use, suicidal ideation , Teen issues, and 12 step principles (A.A program).
Through our counselling alliance I want to strive to understand you and where you are coming from so together, we can overcome difficult situations, develop new skills and plan where you want to go next. My goal is to provide quality counselling to promote resilience of strength and hope found within oneself. Step one…it’s okay to ask for help !.
